Terms of Service

The agreement covering your account, the Paws & Visits Plus subscription, starter-kit orders, and bookings with independent vets and trainers.

Last updated September 1, 2026

Agreement to these terms

These Terms of Service form a binding agreement between you and Paws & Visits, Inc. of 1420 Ridgeway Ave, Suite 210, Asheville, NC 28801. They cover the pawsandvisits.com website, the browser extension, the Paws & Visits Plus subscription, starter-kit orders, and the tools we use to connect you with independent in-home veterinarians and trainers. By creating an account, installing the extension, or placing an order you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the services.

Eligibility and accounts

You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract. You agree to provide accurate account and pet information, keep your credentials confidential, and notify us at [email protected] if your account is accessed without permission. You are responsible for activity under your account. We may suspend or close an account used in breach of these terms, carrying unpaid balances, or that we reasonably believe is fraudulent.

What the service is — and is not

Paws & Visits provides onboarding information, scheduling logistics, and commerce tools for new pet owners. We are not a veterinary practice, an employer of veterinarians, an insurer, or a training academy. Care plans and checklists are educational content reviewed by licensed veterinarians for general accuracy; they are not a diagnosis, treatment plan, or prescription. Our Veterinary Disclaimer is incorporated into these terms.

Paws & Visits Plus

Plus is an optional subscription costing $19.00 per month, charged in advance to the payment method on file through our payment processor, Stripe. Key terms:

  • Free trial. New subscribers receive a 14-day free trial. We take payment details at sign-up but charge nothing until it ends; cancel during the trial and you are never charged.
  • Cancel anytime. Cancel from Account → Billing or by emailing [email protected]. Cancellation stops future renewals; Plus features remain active until the end of the period already billed.
  • Proration. Monthly fees are not prorated on cancellation, so a mid-cycle cancellation earns no partial refund. Upgrades to an annual plan are prorated in your favor: unused monthly time is credited against the annual charge. Downgrades take effect at the next renewal.
  • Price changes. We give at least 30 days' email notice before changing the price of an existing subscription; you may cancel before it applies.
  • Failed payments. We retry a failed charge up to three times over ten days, notify you, then suspend Plus until payment succeeds.

Starter-kit orders and returns

Starter kits and supplies are sold either by Paws & Visits or by a named third-party retailer identified at checkout. Prices are in US dollars and exclude sales tax, calculated at checkout. Title and risk of loss pass on delivery to the address you provide.

You may return unopened, unused items sold by Paws & Visits within 30 days of delivery for a refund of the purchase price; request a return label from [email protected]. Opened consumables, perishable food, and personalised items are not returnable for hygiene reasons unless faulty. Faulty or incorrect items are replaced or refunded in full, including shipping. Items sold by a third-party retailer follow that retailer's return policy, linked at checkout.

In-home vets and trainers are independent contractors

Our network includes 640+ credentialed in-home veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and trainers across 38 states. Each is an independent professional or practice, not an employee or agent of Paws & Visits. They hold their own state licences, DEA registrations where applicable, and professional liability insurance, and exercise independent clinical judgement. We verify licensure and insurance at onboarding and annually, but we do not supervise care: the professional relationship, including the medical record and any prescription, is between you and that provider.

Visit fees are quoted before you confirm, and we may collect payment as the provider's limited payment agent. Complaints about clinical care should go to the provider and the relevant state veterinary board; tell us at [email protected] so we can review network participation.

Appointment changes, cancellations, and no-shows

You may reschedule or cancel a booked visit at no charge up to 24 hours before the appointment window starts. A cancellation, reschedule, or no-show inside 24 hours incurs a $35 late-cancellation fee, because the provider's travel window cannot be refilled. We waive it for genuine emergencies, provider delay, unsafe weather, or provider cancellation. Someone aged 18 or over must be present throughout, and you must disclose any history of aggression or bite incidents; a provider may decline to proceed on safety grounds, in which case the fee applies.

Some links to products, insurers, and services earn us a commission or referral fee. This never changes the price you pay, and commercial relationships do not determine editorial recommendations. See our Affiliate Disclosure and Insurance Licensing Disclosure.

Browser extension licence and permissions

We grant you a personal, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use the extension for your own pet onboarding. It requests page-content permission only on the adoption and breeder listing domains we support, plus storage permission to cache your checklist locally. It does not request access to all sites, read form inputs or credentials, or inject advertising. You may not decompile, repackage, resell, or distribute modified builds, scrape our content at scale, or use the extension to gather listing data for a competing service. Automatic updates may change functionality; uninstall at any time from your browser's extension settings.

Acceptable use

  • Do not harass anyone, including providers and support staff.
  • Do not upload unlawful, infringing, or deliberately false content, including fabricated vaccination records.
  • Do not probe, scan, or breach our systems, or circumvent rate limits and access controls.
  • Do not resell Plus access, share credentials, or operate a competing product on our service.
  • Do not use our content to train a machine learning model without written permission.

You keep ownership of content you submit and grant us a licence to host, display, and process it to operate the services. We own the site, extension, checklists, illustrations, and trade marks.

Disclaimer of warranties

Except where law forbids it, the services are provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and accuracy. We do not warrant that care plans suit every animal, that provider availability is continuous, or that the services are uninterrupted or error free.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, neither party is liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, or data. Our total aggregate liability relating to the services is limited to the greater of (a) the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) one hundred US dollars ($100). Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.

Indemnity

You agree to indemnify Paws & Visits, Inc., its officers, employees, and contractors against third-party claims, losses, and reasonable legal costs arising from your breach of these terms, misuse of the services, inaccurate information about a pet's health or behavior, or injury caused by your animal during a visit.

Dispute resolution and governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Before starting formal proceedings, you agree to a 30-day informal resolution step: send a written description of the dispute and the relief sought to [email protected], and we will attempt in good faith to resolve it, including by telephone conference if either party asks. If it remains unresolved after 30 days, the exclusive venue is the state or federal courts in Buncombe County, North Carolina. Either party may still bring a qualifying claim in small claims court.

Class-action waiver and opt-out

Claims must be brought individually, not as a plaintiff or class member in any purported class, collective, or representative proceeding. You may opt out of this waiver by emailing [email protected] with the subject line "Class Action Waiver Opt-Out" within 30 days of first accepting these terms. Opting out affects only this section.

Changes, termination, and general terms

Material changes are posted here with a new revision date and emailed to account holders at least 14 days in advance where the change is adverse to you; continued use after the effective date is acceptance. You may stop using the services at any time. If a provision is unenforceable, the rest survives, and we may assign this agreement in a merger or sale of assets. These terms and the policies referenced in them are the entire agreement between us.
