Affiliate Disclosure

How Paws & Visits makes money, which links pay us, and why that never changes what our vet-reviewed checklists recommend.

Last updated September 1, 2026

The short version

Paws & Visits, Inc. is a for-profit company. Some of the links, buttons, and booking flows on this site and in our browser extension earn us money. This page tells you exactly which ones, how much of our revenue they represent, and what rules we follow so that a commission never decides what we tell you to do for your animal.

This disclosure is provided to comply with the Federal Trade Commission's Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising, 16 CFR Part 255, which requires clear and conspicuous disclosure of material connections between an endorser and a seller. We also place a short inline disclosure directly above any block of monetised links, because a policy page on its own is not "clear and conspicuous" at the point of decision.

Our commercial relationships

Starter-kit and supply affiliate commissions

When you buy a crate, harness, puppy pen, litter setup, food, or any other item through a retailer link in a care plan or starter-kit bundle, we typically receive between 3% and 10% of the item price from that retailer's affiliate program. This includes participation in large marketplace programs and direct partnerships with pet-specialty brands. The commission is paid by the retailer out of its margin.

In-home vet and trainer booking commissions

Our network of 640+ credentialed in-home veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and trainers across 38 states pays Paws & Visits a platform fee, generally 10% to 18% of the visit fee, for scheduling, payment handling, reminders, and record delivery. Where we collect payment from you on the provider's behalf, that fee is deducted before remittance. The price you are quoted before you confirm a visit is the price you pay.

Pet-insurance referral fees

If you request an insurance quote through our comparison tool, our licensed affiliate Paws & Visits Insurance Services LLC may receive a per-qualified-lead fee or a first-year commission from the insurer or broker. See our Insurance Licensing Disclosure for the licensing details and what "qualified lead" means.

Paws & Visits Plus

Plus costs $19 per month and is our only direct subscription revenue. It funds the editorial and veterinary review work behind the breed plans. Plus subscribers see the same disclosures and the same recommendations as everyone else; we do not upsell Plus inside clinical guidance.

Advertising

We buy advertising on search and social platforms to reach new pet owners. We do not sell display advertising on this site, and no third party pays us to place a product inside a checklist.

Prices are the same for you

Using an affiliate link costs you nothing extra. Retailer prices are identical whether you arrive through us, through a search engine, or by typing the address yourself. Where we negotiate a discount code, the discounted price is lower than the public price, never higher. We do not use dynamic or personalised pricing, and we do not receive a higher commission for steering you toward a more expensive version of the same item.

Editorial independence

Our first-30-days checklists, breed care plans, vaccination timelines, and socialisation guides are written by our content team and reviewed by licensed veterinarians before publication. The rules we work to:

  • Not pay-to-place. No brand, retailer, insurer, or provider can buy a position in a checklist, a "recommended" label, or inclusion in a starter kit. Payment does not create, change, or remove a recommendation.
  • Clinical content is separated from commerce. The veterinary reviewer signs off on the guidance before any product links are attached, and reviewers are not compensated based on revenue.
  • We recommend the category first. Where a specific brand does not matter — most bowls, most brushes — we say so and explain what to look for, rather than manufacturing a false "best pick".
  • Non-monetised options are named. If the right answer is a hand-me-down crate, a shelter's low-cost vaccine clinic, or your existing veterinarian, the plan says that even though we earn nothing.
  • Links are re-reviewed. We re-check linked products at least twice a year and remove links to discontinued items, items with open safety recalls, or retailers with unacceptable fulfilment performance.
  • We disclose at the point of decision. Every monetised module carries a visible label, not just this page.

What we do not do

We do not accept payment to write a positive review. We do not publish reviews as if they were independent testing when they are not — where we have not physically handled a product, we say the assessment is based on published specifications and veterinary guidance. We do not create fake testimonials, we do not incentivise reviews with discounts, and we do not use undisclosed sponsored placements in email or in the extension. We do not sell your personal information to advertisers; see the Privacy Policy and "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" pages for how advertising measurement works.

Testimonials and results

Customer quotes on this site are from real customers who gave written permission, and they are unedited except for length and typographical corrections. Individual experiences vary: no checklist can guarantee a specific behavioral or medical outcome for your animal, and the timelines we publish are typical rather than promised.

Reporting a conflict of interest

If you believe a recommendation on this site was influenced by a commercial relationship, or that a disclosure is missing or unclear, tell us. Email [email protected] with the subject line "Disclosure Concern" and include the page URL and the specific recommendation. Our editorial lead — who does not report to the revenue team — reviews every report, responds within five business days, and publishes a correction on the affected page when we got it wrong. We log all such reports and review them quarterly with our veterinary advisory panel.
