Your right to opt out

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA) gives you the right to direct a business not to sell or share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. Residents of Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Oregon, Texas, Montana, and other states with comprehensive privacy laws have an equivalent right to opt out of targeted advertising and of the sale of personal data. Paws & Visits, Inc. honors that request from anyone who makes it, regardless of where you live — we do not check your state before applying an opt-out.

Exercising this right is free, does not require an account, and does not change the price or quality of anything we sell you.

What "sharing" actually happens here

We want to be precise, because "sell" has a broader meaning under these laws than most people expect.

• We do not sell personal information for money. We have never exchanged customer lists, pet profiles, appointment records, or contact details for payment, and we do not operate a data brokerage.
• We do share advertising identifiers. When you consent, or where consent is not required and you have not opted out, our site sets cookies and passes identifiers to Google Ads and Meta so those platforms can attribute conversions to the ads that produced them and build remarketing audiences. The identifiers involved are cookie IDs such as _gcl_au, _gcl_aw, and _fbp, Google click identifiers (gclid) present on inbound ad traffic, IP address, user-agent, and the event that occurred — for example "started a care plan" or "booked a visit". For enhanced conversion measurement we may transmit a SHA-256 hash of an email address you gave us at checkout. This constitutes "sharing" for cross-context behavioral advertising under the CPRA, so we disclose it and let you switch it off.
• We never share pet health details for advertising. Breed, date of birth, vaccination status, medical notes, appointment content, veterinary records, and insurance quote details are excluded from all advertising integrations.
• We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16.

Service providers that merely process information on our instructions — Stripe, Twilio, SendGrid, Cloudflare — are not "sales" or "sharing" and are unaffected by an opt-out. See the sub-processor table in our Privacy Policy.

Three ways to opt out

1. The toggle on this page

Use the "Do not share my information for advertising" toggle above, or the "Cookie preferences" link in the footer of every page, and switch the Advertising category off. The change applies immediately: advertising tags stop firing, Google Consent Mode v2 is set to deny for ad_storage, ad_user_data, and ad_personalization, and existing advertising cookies are cleared on the next page view. Your choice is stored in the pv_consent cookie for 12 months. Because it is stored in a cookie, clearing your cookies or using a different browser or device will lose it — repeat the opt-out there, or use one of the methods below.

2. Global Privacy Control

We honor the Global Privacy Control. If your browser or a privacy extension sends the Sec-GPC: 1 header, we treat it as a valid opt-out of sale and sharing for that browser automatically, with no further action from you, and we do not display a banner asking you to reconsider. GPC is the most durable option if you use multiple sites.

3. Email or phone

Send a request to [email protected] with the subject line "Do Not Sell or Share", or call +1 (828) 555-0142. An account-level opt-out recorded this way follows you across browsers and devices when you are signed in, and is retained for 60 months so we can prove it was honored. We confirm completion by email within 15 business days, which is inside the CPRA deadline.

Authorized agents

You may use an authorized agent to submit an opt-out on your behalf. The agent should email [email protected] and include written permission signed by you, or a valid power of attorney under California Probate Code sections 4000 to 4465. For opt-out requests we do not require you to verify your own identity, consistent with CPRA requirements, but we may ask you to confirm that you gave the agent permission before we act. Agent requests submitted in bulk must identify each consumer individually; we reject undifferentiated list submissions.

Verification

An opt-out of sale or sharing does not require identity verification and we will not use it as a gate. If you also ask us to delete, correct, or disclose personal information, we do verify — by matching your email address to an existing account or order record and confirming a one-time code sent to that address. We use information supplied for verification only for verification, and we delete it afterwards.

Limiting the use of sensitive personal information

We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes beyond those permitted by CPRA section 1798.121, so the additional "Limit the Use of My Sensitive Personal Information" right does not change anything here. Pet health information is not used for advertising or profiling at all.

Non-discrimination

We will not deny you goods or services, charge a different price, impose a penalty, provide a lower quality of service, or suggest any of those things because you exercised a privacy right. There is no financial incentive program tied to your data on this site. Opting out of advertising sharing may mean the ads you see elsewhere are less relevant, and it will reduce the accuracy of our own conversion reporting, but it does not affect your care plan, your Plus subscription, your booking, or your order.
