Cookie Policy

Every cookie and similar technology we set, why it exists, how long it lasts, and how to change your choice at any time.

What this policy covers

This policy describes the cookies, local storage entries, and pixel tags used on pawsandvisits.com and in the Paws & Visits web app. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains the wider picture of how Paws & Visits, Inc. handles personal information. "Cookie" below is shorthand for any similar technology, including localStorage keys used by the browser extension to cache your checklist offline.

Cookies do three jobs here: they keep you signed in and your cart intact, they remember preferences such as your ZIP code and consent choice, and they help us measure which parts of onboarding actually work so we can fix the parts that do not.

Strictly necessary

These cookies are required for the site to function and are set without consent because the service cannot be delivered without them. You cannot switch them off through our banner.

Functional

These remember choices you have made. Declining them means the site still works, but you will re-enter things like your ZIP code.

Analytics

These tell us, in aggregate, which pages and checklist steps are used and where people drop out. They are set only after you consent.

Advertising

These let us measure whether an ad led to a booking and, where you allow it, show relevant ads on other sites. They are set only after you consent.

Cookies we set

How to change your choice

Use the Cookie preferences link in the footer of every page. It reopens the consent panel so you can turn functional, analytics, and advertising categories on or off individually, and your choice is applied immediately without a page reload. Withdrawing consent stops new cookies in that category and instructs our tag manager to clear the ones already set on the next page view. Because your choice is stored in the pv_consent cookie, clearing all cookies in your browser will make the banner appear again.

Google tags on this site are deployed through Google Consent Mode v2. For visitors in the EEA, the UK, and Switzerland, analytics_storage, ad_storage, ad_user_data, and ad_personalization all default to denied. Until you consent, Google tags send only cookieless pings used for aggregate modelling, and no advertising identifiers are written to your device. When you consent, the granted state is passed to every subsequent tag call. If you decline, we keep the denied state for 12 months rather than re-prompting you on each visit.

Global Privacy Control

We honor the Global Privacy Control signal. If your browser or extension sends Sec-GPC: 1, we treat it as a valid opt-out of sale and of sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising: advertising cookies are not set, and the opt-out is applied to the request even if you have never interacted with our banner. GPC does not disable strictly necessary cookies, and it does not by itself opt you out of analytics — use the Cookie preferences panel for that.

Browser and device controls

  • Chrome — Settings → Privacy and security → Third-party cookies and Site settings.
  • Safari — Settings → Privacy, including Prevent cross-site tracking.
  • Firefox — Settings → Privacy & Security → Enhanced Tracking Protection.
  • Edge — Settings → Cookies and site permissions.
  • Mobile — iOS and Android both offer a limit-ad-tracking or reset-advertising-ID control in system privacy settings.

Blocking strictly necessary cookies will break sign-in, checkout, and booking. Deleting cookies removes your saved consent choice and your cart.

Do Not Track

There is still no industry consensus on how to interpret the legacy Do Not Track header, so we do not respond to it. We do respond to Global Privacy Control, which is a specified, enforceable opt-out signal.

Updates

We review this table when we add or remove a vendor, and at least twice a year. Changes are published here with a new revision date; if we add a new advertising or analytics vendor, we re-prompt for consent in the EEA and UK rather than relying on your previous choice.
